I cried,it's a Niagra Falls this time.(T.T) It's not because of the Malaysian athletes' performance in the Olympic nor was it of a heartbreak. The heavy downpour was due to an article I've read randomly on Fb about a virtuous woman,Mrs. Lou Xiaoying :
My heart goes out to this woman here,it aches to see someone who presumably share the same age as your mother working as a garbage collector in China.Despite with a low cost of living which barely supported her and the husband, she saved & raised 30 abandoned babies tht was found at the roadside. Her undying devotion for the children inspired me.
She and her late husband,Li Zin (passed away 17 years ago) kept four of them and passed the others to her friends and relatives for a better living. The youngest son,now aged 7(Zhang Qilin) was found in a dustbin when Mrs Lou was 82 y/o.And now in her late 80's,she suffered kidney failure.
“Even though I was already getting old I could not simply ignore the baby and leave him to die in the trash. He looked so sweet and so needy. I had to take him home with me,” she said.
“I took him back to our home, which is a very small modest house in the countryside and nursed him to health. He is now a thriving little boy, who is happy and healthy.
“My older children all help look after Zhang Qilin, he is very special to all of us. I named him after the Chinese word for rare and precious.
“The whole thing started when I found the first baby, a little girl back in 1972 when I was out collecting rubbish. She was just lying amongst the junk on the street, abandoned. She would have died had we not rescued her and taken her in.
“Watching her grow and become stronger gave us such happiness and I realised I had a real love of caring for children.
“I realised if we had strength enough to collect garbage how could we not recycle something as important as human lives,” she explained.
“These children need love and care. They are all precious human lives. I do not understand how people can leave such a vulnerable baby on the streets.
She's now dying because of the kidney failure. The pictures above show her and two of the children that she rescued. :'( She has become iconic in her village and had put the government and other officials to shame for abandoning the babies. *China”s controversial “policy of birth planning” was introduced in 1978 to reduce the strain on the country”s burgeoning population and reduce the strain on resources.*
The picture of Mr. and Mrs. Lou caring for the babies they rescued :) They're my forever heroes(!)
